We’re incredibly excited to be welcoming a fantastic field of British-bred horses here to the Al Shira’aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships. Entries for all classes are looking strong with some very exciting young horses competing over the four day show. Here are some of the team’s top British picks of horses to keep an eye on at the show and in the future.
4 Year Olds
Senator De Vauxelles - Kannan X Toulon - Ridden by Dodson & Horrell Bolesworth International Horse Show 2022 Grand Prix winner, Louise Saywell, this talented British Bred 4 year old has already shown his potential with multiple double clears in young horse classes.
Millfield Tantalise - Tangelo Van De Zuuthoeve X Colman - Bred and ridden by Brian Thompson of Millfield Stud, Millfield Tantalise is a stunning example of British breeding. Millfield Stud also has two British bred foals in this year's Bolesworth Elite Foal Auction with Cornet's Pearl and Millfield Cascento.
5 Year Olds
Ashdale Luxastar - Big Star X Lux – This horse is constantly being placed in National 5 Year Old classes with Dodson & Horrell Bolesworth International Horse Show GP Qualifier winner, Paul Simms.
Billy Earp - Cevin Z X Mark Twain - Bred at the legendary Billy Stud, Billy Earp is one to watch in this year's Al Shira'aa Bolesworth Young Horse Championships 5YO final with super-fast rider, Robert Murphy.
6 Year Olds
Acapella III - Action Breaker X Kannan - This athletic British bred gelding has had a brilliant couple of seasons in young horse classes, ready to take on the 6 year olds. Having won 5 year old classes abroad last year, piloted by Leo Lamb, Acapella will be looking to take the top spot in this year's young horse final.
Wild Star HF - Big Star X Wild Rose - By the brilliant sire Big Star and out of the 1.60 jumping dam Wild Rose, Wild Star HF was bred by Haddon Farms in the Wirral, UK. Having jumped and placed in many 6 year old classes in Spain earlier this year with Anthony Condon, now ridden by talented young rider Emily Ward, Wild Star HF is one of the many gifted young horses to watch at the Young Horse Championships. We also have the striking colt, Wild West HF in this year’s Elite Foal Auction.
7 Year Olds
Billy Etna - Billy Congo X Cevin Z - Owned and bred by the Billy Stud, this stunning 7 year old will be hunting the win in this year’s 7 year olds, after qualifying for the 6 year old 2021 World Breeding Championships last year. She will be ridden by Jessica Burke on behalf of the Billy Stud.
Just Call Me Henry - Argento X Kannan - Winner of one of the 7yo classes at the Dodson & Horrell Bolesworth International Horse Show in July, Just Call Me Henry is in great form ahead of the young horse championships. Ridden by the talented James Whitaker, this young gelding is a fine example of the proper British breeding.
